I think Barbie is just a fun toy for little girls. I don't think it has a negative effect on girls' body image. I think when we COMPARE ourselves to Barbie, then yes, it does have an effect, but that is not the case for everyone. I think that more often than not, we compare ourselves to other people, because somehow they make "staying thin" work and we wish we could attain that. Granted, being healthy is never a bad thing, and wanting to be healthy is not bad either. We have to realize, though, that no matter how "healthy" we are, we still have the same amount of value in God's eyes and the amount of love He have for us doesn't change. Our bodies are where the Spirit resides, though, and it is our responsibility to take care of them. But Barbie goes beyond being healthy... I think she takes it to the extreme. Other thoughts and/or comments?
