RE: Job Problem

Hi Carolina,

First of all, know that you are not alone! Many teens experience some anxiety when it comes to applying for their first job. Take comfort in knowing that Jesus is holding your hand the whole way and will never let go!

When I was your age and looking for a job I think what really helped give me confidence was applying for jobs I knew my strengths would be utilized. I am not very good with numbers so I would shy away from the cash registers. I am very good communicating with others so I would gravitate towards positions that my main job would be helping others. I found a job at a Nursing Home which was the perfect fit! The key is looking for jobs where your interests lie.

Your friends are right, you need to get your application out there, but be sure it is a job you really want and feel comfortable doing…then the confidence will come easier and you will feel less prone to shyness.

If you want to just get your feet wet in the working world one way to do it is through babysitting. Babysitting is always in demand. My sister is currently in High school and finds doing this allows her flexible hours and the extra money she needs. If working with kids is appealing to you either get your name out their through people you know or consider running and add in the paper.

I will say a prayer that you are able to find a job you enjoy and overcome any fears you have associated with it.

Take heart the words of the Bible:

"God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:5-6
