My senior project about Barbie

im doing my senior project on the effect that barbie has on girls' body image. Im really excited about it i just started researching it and its all so interesting.


I really believe she negatively effects girls' i remember when i was little i wanted to be just like her. Even in middle school i became anorexic to get her measurements..

I think that is a great idea to do your senior project about the affect that Barbie has on young girls and their self-esteem. I always wanted to have her measurements, and eventually suffered with anorexia and depression. Not exclusively from that, but I'm glad that someone is taking initiative to do research on that.

Im a junior and im doing a projet on the same thing...I find it all so interesting on how she has such a great efect on young girls..But I still need a lot of information..Any Ideas?!
Senior Paper on Barbie

I'm doing my senior paper on Barbie and how she changed the world. Barbie has had her positive and negative influences over the world and little girls. There is a lot of information on Barbie and it's al very interesting. Barbie was not made to make little girls think they're fat or make little girls want to look like her but that is what it has come down too. What little girl wouldnt want to be a hot blonde bombshell, that image was intented for little girls to see her an think hey if she can do that I can be that too but girls think they have to look like her before they can achieve that. Thats where everything went wrong. There are a lot of positive things about Barbie that are good. I do not believe Barbie was created to make such an impact on girls lives but she has. There are also a lot of negative things about Barbie that would probably stop parents dead in their tracks from buying barbie. What parent would want to buy a doll that was inspired to look like a german prostitute? I wouldnt. Barbie is a dream doll, that is exactly what she needs to stay as. Who ever thought of the idea that barbie should have to stay 110lbs and not eat to stay skinny is wrong. If the creators wanted Barbie to be realitic, well real people gain and lose weight, they get older, they have children, I understand she is a doll but people and little girls need to understand that too, I never thought I needed to look like Barbie to achieve my dreams but I am not like every1 else and they are not like me. Parents need to see what kind of influence they and the toys they buy them have over their children. I think its US who have to make a change with Barbie, not Barbie we have to tell our sisters and even our brothers too that true and natural beauty is the prettiest and always will be.
