As I have grown up, I have slowly began to realize the pain that comes with gossip on both ends of the spectrum. Gossip hurts and the only one true way to avoid they pain? Don't do it. A couple of years ago, in the eight grade, I spread a rumor, about an old friend of mine and her boyfriend. It was Halloween, and a girl had gotten back from Trick-or-Treating. I asked her where the other girl who she had been with was, the response was juicy however it was a joke. I didn't take it that way and by the next morning I told my circle of friends who told their friends. By noon at lunchtime, it was the topic of conversation. I was called down to the guidance office to discuss the pain that the other girl was in. I felt terrible. I thought that what it was a juicy story and pain was not my intention. Unfortunatly, even months after this event people were still upset with me. My mom received a phone call from the girls mother and my mom found out. I never knew how painful it would be to have my mom find out, I let her down big time. After that incident and maturing I have slowly eased away from the gossip path and onto the righteous path that God has laid out for me. Occasionaly I find myself gossiping or "spicing up stories", however, after I do say something, I have a huge sense of guilt and try to keep my mouth shut. It is a work in progress, however, with prayer and caution I know I can overcome this weakness for good.
