Struggled With Masturbation

I live in a house with Christian parents who love me and care for me. I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart when I was 4 years old on the way home from church. SInce then I've "played the part." being the "good Christian girl." I recently heard a song by Christian recording artist Fransesca Battistelli called "Behind the Scenes." Well, that was my life. I was a good girl by day, but I had a secret that was festering in my heart. I was addicted to masturbation and every night would masturbate. After every time I did, I would feel guilty and ask God's forgiveness. Finally, one night I had enough and cried out to God to make me stop. This habit had made me feel dirty and ugly, and I knew I needed God's help. God did help me. I haven't masturbated in a long time now and am reading the book "Every Young Woman's Battle" by Stephen Arteburn and Shannon Ethridge and that is helping me so much. I feel free and closer to God than ever before. Please, if anyone reading this is stuck in a place that I used to be in, don't go through this alone. Call on God and he promises that He will hear and answer you.

i have this problem as well
i dont do it as much but have been doign it since like.....elementary school
at one point i had quit for about 4 or months but went back into doing it and it has gotten even worse
it has definitley taken a toll on my confidence in who i am in Christ and i am askin that you pray that i am able to stop through God's grace

Dear Anonymous,
I will be praying for you. I have managed to stop and feel so much closer to the Lord. I will be praying for Christ to give you strength and the willpower to stop, because, trust me, I know what it's like to be stuck in that place. Just put your heart in His hands and remember that He'll always love you. :)

I'm so glad you're reading that book! I did too! I've never been in that situation but I know when bad habits start it's hard to quit! I'm so glad you've realized you are loved by a great God who can help us stop. :) I luv ya girl!

I struggled with this too. I just recently stopped. i struggled with it for about a year. I also felt nasty and ugly, and like no other girl went through this but me. It was encouraging to read your story, so thanks for sharing. By God's grace we both overcame it!
