The Best Side of Me

The best side of me
Is to be
A country girl
Where you’re free to be whatever you want
And nothing is holding you back

The best side of me
Is to be
In a field
Surrounded by absolutely nothing
But yourself and God
When you’re beside yourself
Because of all the beauty
And He is there, too

The best side of me
Is to be
Roaming and not knowing
What is coming next
There’s always something new around the bend
All I can do is wait
And hope for the best

The best side of me
Is to be
On a horse
Running and running through that field
I feel free
And it’s only me, the wind that blows in my face
And God

The best side of me
Is to be
By myself
And free
Of all this cruel world
I’ll create my own
And live in it forever
Where I’ll be beside myself,
With my horse
And the wind that blows in my face
And have God there too

This is what I dream to be
That is the best side of me

Thanks for sharing that wonderful poem, Angela.
This is a great example of being alone with and spending time with our Creator. I can feel both a sense of freedom and peace. I also like how you brought up that we don’t know what’s coming next and we need to hope for the best, this captures how we need to totally trust God, He knows what’s best and it most likely will be an adventure.
