by Elizabeth
the sky burns gray as i stumble throughout the thorny fog. it scrapes me and i start to bleed. some surfaces scrape. some thorns cut deep. i try to see, but the fog and my tears blind me. every now and then i trip again. i fall, and the fiery gravel on the ground cuts and burns my knees. but i must keep on, before i burn to ash. with all the strength in me, i stand and wipe blood off my knees. others come to push me down, i pick myself up again. im too weak to stop them time and time again, but their words cut deep within my rebroken heart. powerless, i keep on, bearing the pain i thought id never feel again. it always returns, worse each time.
