Twisted!

I think that the picture the media portrays of what we "should" look like is ABSOLUTELY TWISTED! God never intended for us to modify our bodies; He created us PERFECT! Makeup DOES NOT make a person more beautiful; being thin DOES NOT make a person more beautiful, and on the list goes! I believe that instead of modifying my body to "be beautiful" I should modify my spiritual being to be a better light (just as Shelley is teaching us) . I know I am guilty of spending more time in the physical mirror than the spiritual mirror. I know I am guilty of low self-esteem due to the "ideal" portrayal. However, I don't need to concentrate on modifying my body, because the all-smart One says that He created me perfectly. I have no physical flaws when I do not alter my body. In God's eyes, if i never wear makeup, never pluck my eyebrows, never shave, i will be JUST AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE GIRL NEXT TO ME. Through the world's eyes, I may look like a grasshopper, but through God's eyes (the eyes that really matter) my body is stunning.

Well said! You've hit it right on the spot :)People who worry about their appearance and compete with trying to look beautiful tend to be a lot more unhappier than someone who knows what real beauty is all about, because they believe that they are no longer beautiful UNLESS they put on that makeup, UNLESS they dress in labeled clothes etc...and so they base their beauty on outward adornment and materialistic things. There's nothing wrong with being lady like and feminine, but it becomes wrong when people rely on material things to be beautiful, whereas it should come from within so it shows on the outside too. :)
