What I've Learned (without getting my heart broken!)

We've all felt it. That longing as you watch a guy smile and put his arms around another girl. We as girls just can't help wanting that! It's not necessarily a bad thing, in fact it's how God wired us!
HOWEVER, that being said, girls in high school too often take that need to be loved and wanted and translate it as, "I MUST HAVE A BOYFRIEND!". It breaks my heart when fifteen year olds say that being single is overated and that having a boyfriend is a necessity.
Now, I'm sure you've been told this a thousand times, but let me say it again...YOU HAVE YOUR WHOLE LIVES AHEAD OF YOU! Guys are NOT emotionally or mentally ready to be in a relationship in highschool. While on a whole, girls are a little more mature, I'd still say that we're not ready at that age either. It says in Song of Solomon that a young lady should not awaken or arouse love, until its proper time...girls, if you are not in a position where you can act on your feelings without compromising your morals, than you shouldn't be encouraging that relationship.
Now, before you think me too preachy, let me tell you my experience. To be honest, I've never actually wanted to
date in high school. I guess the fact that most of high school dating relationships end badly kinda turned me off the idea. Don't get me wrong, I have hopes and dreams too. There's a wonderful, christian guy who I like, and he likes me too! *cue blushing* But neither of us feel that furthering our relationship in high school would be beneficial or healthy.
I don't know what's going to happen when I head off to college next fall. I hope, and pray like crazy that he's the one for me. But I know that if it's God's will, HE WILL MAKE A WAY! So for now, I'm just enjoying our awesome friendship.
Being friends with guys is great and loads of fun...but let me just encourage you to not waste your time trying to impress them, because honestly it's not worth it right now! If you think that guy who's constantly on your mind is pretty awesome, then just imagine how ridiculously amazing your future husband is going to be! And that ridiculously amazing guy is definitely worth waiting for.
It didn't take a relationship gone bad for me to learn this lesson. And I pray for all you beautiful young ladies out there that you'll wait to get involved too! Instead during high school, get to know God's UNWAVERING love! Because He thinks you're pretty special :)
God Bless!
